How It Works


Coupon Codes
  • Online Coupon Codes are special codes made up of letters or numbers or sometimes symbols which are assigned by online retailers to Frugalsavers.com visitors to use for special promotions such as discounts, dollars off, "2-for" deals, special buys or free shipping.

  • If a promotion is a coupon code promotion, you will see the coupon code listed after the promotional blurb and before the expiration date.

    - If you want to use the coupon code, write it down because you will need it after you shop and during the checkout process.

    - Click on the name of the company in the deal box. This will bring you to the online store. If you want to see all deals for that particular company, click on the "View All CompanyName.com Offers" link.

    - Once on the store's web site, do your shopping then start the check-out process. Coupon codes are entered differently on every site. During the check-out process look for a box marked "Coupon/Discount", "Source Code" or "Promotion Code." (The Gift Certificate box is usually not for Coupon Codes unless indicated.) Enter the special Frugalsavers code into the designated area.

    - Once the code has been entered the discount/promotion should appear as you continue the check-out process.

    Tips: Most codes are case sensitive meaning if it is BBEDD2, entering bbedd2 will not work. Also, if a code with a zero does not work, try it again with the letter "O".

    Link Promotions

    To redeem a link-only promotion, click on the retailer's name/link in the Frugalsaver's promotion box (see above) and you will go to the retailer's web site. You may come to a page which outlines the promotion in detail or after your shop and you are ready to check-out, you will see the discount during the check-out process. Tips: Link promotions have a special link which alerts the retailer that you are wanting to use the discount. When viewing all offers for a particular retailer, click on the specific link for the offer you want.

    Banner Promotions

    Banner promotions work much like Link promotions. When you click on the banner you will go to the retailer's web site and your discount should appear during the check-out process.

    Charge-Card Promotions

    Some promotions only work if you pay for your purchase with a specific charge card, such as Visa or a retailer's charge card. If this is the case, it will be indicated in the promotional box.

    Free Shipping Offers

    Many (but not all) of the free shipping offers require that your sale totals a specific amount before you'll receive free shipping. Check the retailer's web site for details of requirements.

    General Notes About Online Coupons

    Promotions That Fail to Show a Discount
    Coupons and promotions can end at anytime without notification from the retailer, even when a specific expiration date is shown. On the few occasions that this happens, it is annoying and we do apologize, but it is part of the agreement we have with the retailers. It can happen if a promotion is more popular than what the retailer planned for and exceeds the allotted budget for that particular deal or offer. However, all may not be lost! When it happens, return to the "view all offers" page and try another coupon or link.

    Doubling Up - Using More Than One Coupon
    Generally, most retailers offer one coupon per purchase, although you can always try to use more! If it doesn't work it will be indicated during the check-out process.

    Things to Try:

  • Combining Link Promotions and Coupon Codes is usually more successful than trying to enter more than one coupon code.

  • Many coupon codes will work on special purchases. This is when the price of an item is greatly reduced. You may get additional savings by entering the coupon code.

  • Many Free Shipping Link Promotions can be used with Coupon Codes. There are no guarantees when using any of the above methods for extra savings, but it doesn't hurt to try!

    Promotion Exclusions

    Some products may be excluded from a promotion. Example, many luggage retailers will exclude Tumi from its promotional offers. The exclusions are generally listed on the retailer's web site.
